While building their own development progress taking into account changing realities

As explained to the editorial board in the organizing committee of the XVIII St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, in 2025 the number of participants will be more than 20,000 delegates and participants from more than 140 countries.
For Kyrgyzstan, this means broad opportunities to establish new acquaintances, update and exchange experience, says Nasirdin Shamshiev, an analyst on investment and strategic development of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic.

“Russia remains our main partner,” the economist says in comments to “Business Eurasia”. “Even one indicator speaks of the importance of our ties - this is trade turnover. In 2024, it grew to $3.5 billion, and the growth rate was 14.7%. This is quite a lot. According to the results of five months of 2025, we also have an increase in mutual trade - 3.8%. There are undoubtedly shifts in business development in the EAEU region and in bilateral trade. On June 11, we had the Russia-Kyrgyzstan forum in Bishkek (Russian Export Center trade mission in Bishkek – editor’s note), and in March there was a similar forum in Moscow, where representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and businessmen from Kyrgyzstan took part. There is still a lot of work ahead and many contacts with Europe.

According to the economist, in the upcoming St. Petersburg issue, it will be important to increase the decline in trade turnover of the EAEU countries with the third change, as well as the enhanced development of industrial cooperation. The project was launched a long time ago, but strong results have not yet brought benefits.

— In Kyrgyzstan, textile production and turnover in the sewing industry have been declining for the third month in a row, — continues Nasirdin Shamshiev. — It is very valuable that I will be there, with whom we can discuss and resolve everything. We monitored the situation with deliveries and the products themselves, and found that logistics may suffer.

Logistics issues on the scale of all of Eurasia at the SPIEF will be considered in the dialogue on the formation of a multipolar economy on the continent. As the organizers note, an objective process of forming a multipolar world order and reformatting the global economy is currently taking place. In Greater Eurasia, this is manifested in the emergence of new economic players and growth points, and the reformatting of the structures of familiar logistics routes. In the Kyrgyz Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the process of considering new participants is perceived, first of all, through the algorithm for including countries that were not previously considered in large quantities.

— We see how Russia's attitude towards Afghanistan is changing, and not only. Partnership in Eurasia is regulated, and three or four countries constantly participate in existing projects. This is already multi-format interaction. And we, as a country of the Eurasian Economic Union, are approaching openness. Moreover, now, when there is strong sanctions pressure, not only on Russia, but also on Kyrgyz companies. New partner countries have built, and old ones are trying to maintain relations. And as there will be a multi-format dialogue with the EU at the St. Petersburg forum, we will also be able to understand how best to proceed, the expert suggested.
