In industrial production, partners are forced to take into account the differences in the national economies of the EAEU
The priorities of industrial cooperation within the EAEU, technological trends and the overall situation in metallurgy were discussed by the participants of the round table "Metallurgy in the EAEU: integration, stimulation of consumption, innovations and new materials". This was reported by the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission, where the event was held.
- Deepening industrial and technological cooperation within the EAEU opens up new opportunities for successfully solving the problems of industry development. This can be achieved through the implementation of joint innovation and infrastructure projects in the field of production of metallurgical products, increasing their competitiveness in foreign markets, - said Nikolay Kushnarev, Director of the Department of Industrial Policy of the EEC, in his welcoming speech.
Particular attention was paid to the creation of new production facilities within the EAEU, the exchange of experience in the field of digitalization, robotics and the use of additive technologies in the industry. Considerable interest was generated by the discussion on the use of conformity assessment with international standards as one of the tools for promoting metallurgical products to foreign markets and the potential for cooperation in the welding industry.
The round table presented a mechanism for promoting joint cooperation projects developed by the Commission, which can also be used in the metallurgical industry.
— In general, in 2024, the production of finished metal products in the EAEU increased by 35.1% over the same period. At the same time, mutual cooperation supplies of metallurgical products by member states increased by 4.8%, finished metal products - by 9.6%, which indicates significant potential for cooperation in this industry. The new mechanism of supranational financing will facilitate the further development of cooperation within the EAEU, - noted Deputy Director of the Department Georgy Arzumanyan.
Following the results of the event, its participants agreed to intensify joint work on the EEC platform. It is also planned to prepare a corresponding resolution, which will be sent to the governments of the EAEU countries.
Support for heavy engineering and large-scale production within the framework of industrial cooperation is one of the priorities for the development of business and the economy of the EAEU countries. The business community highly appreciates the potential and capabilities of the new business support mechanism for Eurasian economic integration.
-This is the first financial instrument that the Eurasian Economic Commission has received at its disposal, - says Danil Ibraev, President of the Kyrgyz Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, member of the Presidium of the Business Council of the Eurasian Economic Union, in a commentary to “Business Eurasia”. - It is formed on the basis of anti-dumping duties and compensatory measures.
The allocated amount, which allows, if the project covers three or more EAEU member countries, to pay off the key rate of the bank of the country where the lending organization is located, is, of course, a significant instrument. Especially if you consider that the key rate is high in all countries, especially in the Russian Federation - today it is 22%. In the case of joint implementation by three or more residents of the EAEU, but in different national jurisdictions, so that in each country there is not just packaging, but production - this will be full cooperation. Cooperation will only be called a project when each of the three residents actually creates, forms industrial production, in interaction with all three enterprises and more, and creates some good product that is in demand both within the Union and in general, on the world market.
The issue of developing industrial cooperation is one of the priorities for Eurasian economic integration, which has been repeatedly stated in the Eurasian Economic Commission. Meanwhile, the Business Council of the EAEU notes that the growth rate of cooperation of Eurasian companies is not high enough due to the difference in the national economies of the member countries of the union.
- This is reality - we created the Eurasian Economic Union based on the different speeds of development of these economies, - continues the interlocutor. - Accordingly, the emphasis was placed on industry. Previously, the agro-industrial factor and food industry were not included [in the cooperation support project]. There was a certain group of TN VED - commodity nomenclature, which includes the production of certain goods. Just recently - about 2-3 months ago, at the Council of Prime Ministers, a decision was made to include the agro-industrial complex. This was a collective initiative, including the Kyrgyz Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. They agreed with this, because we showed that this is a high need. We are now finalizing this project to support the Agro-industrial Complex in accordance with the requirements of the EEC, and are preparing to launch it.
The economist particularly emphasizes the factor of coordination of different levels of development of industrial cooperation participants in the Eurasian Economic Union, as determining the joint pace of development.
— I will explain again for understanding. To form a project so that three enterprises in different countries participate in production, and only in the industrial sector, and only those that have been identified, so that they complement each other, and, having put them together, get a product - this is very difficult. This is not easy even around the world. There is a good practice, for example, in the European Union, for the production of Airbus aircraft, which is a product of several EU countries, well, and, accordingly, a good brand in the global aircraft industry, and I think that this is an understandable process. Of course, it is impractical that Agroprom was not initially taken into account, but it is great that now it is taken into account, I think now everything will go faster, — concluded Danil Ibraev.
